9n lower link

Henry Ford isn't on my favorite list at this moment. My lower link support bracket is leaking quite badly. 2 studs and a new gasket. Looks like an easy fix. EXCEPT, the larger stud that holds the arm has a nut on the inside of the axle housing. Is there some easier way to take this stud out without removing the entire housing? Of course I have to do both sides.

Curt.......unfortunately the lower 3-point link leaks requires the removal of the axle trumpet, (tire and brakes) The stud is cotter-keyed and torqued to 150ft/lbs. Drain all 5-gals of hydro-tranny oil. Remove the LEFT axle trumpet and you can reach thru and do the right 3-point link by sliding the diffy out the left side. Simple, eh?

CAUTION: the 9N/2N lower link is NOT tapered like the 8N lower link and therefore are not interchangeable. INSPECT yer trumpet mounting hole 'cuz sometimes they gitt "wallered-out" and the only "cure" is some J&B weld (epoxy stuff) to seal the non-round lower link hole.

This topic has many entrys in the archives at the top of the page, you might want to do a search ......Dell

Thanks guys. That's what I feared. I knew this project was going to good. I let you know how it goes, but not today, can't see the end of the driveway. Canadians are sending another norwester. Looks like snow removal time again.
