9n overheated

You didn't say what you were doing just prior to it overheating but the first place to look is the front of the radiator as some vegetative material can quickly clog it. Fan belt is second, thermostat is third.

Plastic tubing on the end of an air nozzle is a good way to blow out the radiator. This will let you get at the back of the radiator pretty well. You'll be surprised how much crap will blow out of that radiator.

There are a few reasons why your radiator overheats. Bruce(VA) wrote a good tutorial/article on the Ford cooling system in the N-NEWS -see pix. The #1 cause is over filling or underfilling the radiator. Do not fill to the top of the neck cap port. Just til it covers the core. As mentioned, if fan belt is loose, it won't cool properly AND certainly won't charge the electrical system -a completely different problem. Do you have a belt tension device on your generator or alternator? Next, do you have a thermostat installed in the upper hose? The thermostat is installed with the pointed end towards the radiator. Also stated, chaf/debris clogging up the radiator fins greatly hinder performance. The use of your air compressor is a handy device. Blow compressed air from back to front of radiator using caution not to damage the fins. A defective water pump will affect performance as well. If bearing is shot, get a rebuild kit. Your manuals are your friends.
