have top lid off to rebuild lift cylinder.all went well. decided to replace pressure relief valve since everything all apart even though existing valve seemed to be Ok when viewed from side round plate.I had a new valve from nnalert. tried to screw it into pump but the plunger end would not go in the pump. end measured 12.6mm. measured plunger end of a couple of old ones I had around and they measured 11.8mm.Another issue of foreign made parts not correct ? Don't blame Cheena since the bad valve was made in India.I guess I will buy another valve using this site . do these valves go bad from fatigue or debris getting hung up in them ?

The N-Series Tractor Safety Pressure Relief Valve on the hydraulic pump has an 11/16" Hex fitting on it. You need a stub length wrench or one from your tool box that you don't have much sentimental value to and can cut it down. There is limited swing in there and a standard wrench will not get it. SEE LINK BELOW and go to my LINK on basic N system rebuild. nnalert has the correct valve so don't know what you are doing wrong.

I am saying I am concerned that a batch of hydraulic relief valves have been made that have a bad dimension on the spring loaded end. It hangs up when inserted in the pressure relief hole. The little button shaped end measures bigger than other old valves I have laying around. Not the first time foreign made parts for our old tractors have been off dimension( distributor parts as an example ) . Ihave replaced these valves a few times with no problems. By the way, your very detailed article about lift cylinder rebuild is magical. You should write a book about repairing these old tractors.

Most of the etime I really prefer the modern view on this forum, but I hate it when I have to go to the classic view to see all posts.

agreed. i just don't get why classic and modern view use different word censor lists, and why events are handled differently between the two.

I only use the Classic View. I don't see why they changed; it's the if it ain't broke theory. I do not see any advantage to the so-called Modern View. What is so modern about it? To each his own I guess. Classic Coke or New Coke???
