9N Serial Number

Recently got a 9N and the serial number ended in a capital I and * (star). Is the "I" part of the serial number to be read as a"1". In my case, this would determine the year. Can anyone straighten me out on this? Thanks.

Yep, I is a 1 if it appears in your serial number. See "Does my serial number make sense" below.

Yes, the letter I in a serial number is read as the numeral 1. Henry was cheap; the same stamp was used for both an I & a 1.
