9N serial #?

father in law picked up a N tractor which we believe is 9N but we need to find serial number. tractor has been heavily repainted ...where do we look for the tractor id on these type models. Also, what other clues could we find if paint is hiding

Left side of the engine block about center just below the head you should see a flat spot. On the flat spot is where the serial number is stamped. It is only hand stamped so be careful how you clean it off or you can clean the numbers off at the same time. I use carb cleaner and a rag to clean the paint in that area to be on the safe side
