Hey guys ,I was wondering I told you all about my engine haveing loose sleeves and they are but not loose enough that when I turn it over that they move up and down of corse it has been pretty cold so all the oil is pretty thick but when it does warm up I know they will now that movement is just alittle side to side I mean very slite. My question is if I pull the pan can I get to the sleeves enough to tap them out enough to use Loctite on them without pulling the rods and pistons?

You will likely break your rings if you try that. Keep everything properly oriented and you can pull the head/rods/pistons out and reinstall them easily enough. (You are going to have to pull that head anyway to move those sleeves any.)

If you have any ridge at the top of the sleeves it must be removed before you pull the pistons. If not you may break the rings and damage the pistons. Run your finger nail up a sleeve with the piston down. If your nail catches at the top you have a ridge.

Pete,To do the job right,The sleeves need to be removed to clean the block walls and sleeves of all oil residue.Oil residue must be removed with brake cleaner gas ect.and be clean for the sleeve locker, sealer to work. The sleeves can be reused if they are not worn out.Check your piston ring ridge at the top and if you can catch a fingernail on it it will need to be removed before removing the pistons.Check the piston to cylinder wall clearance with the rings removed from the pistons. If clearance is in excess replace the sleeves and pistons.

Is there any sign of the sleeves moving when it was running? The gasket should hold them down & not let them move. Re torque the head after warm up & again after a hundred hours or so.

Actually the only reason I question them at all is finding oil slug in the bottom of the radiator,I pulled the head off to see if there was a bad head gasket after scrapeing away a ton of carbon I noticed alittle side to side movement in a few of the sleeves no up and down movement tho.I do mean very slite, but I didn't know if there was any room for a marginal move or not.I like that idea of the gasket holding it down sounds easy to me.
