9n starter w/drive installation

my new 9n starter w/drive is here and i want to install ASAP. are there any prep instructions before i bolt her down ? ex. like grease the gears

M n NC........no grease the starter drive, must be squeekie clean. Sandpaper or wirebrush BOTH the starter endplate and the around the hole in the tranny. GROUND is very important on starters .......Dell

Could a starter that is going bad but still turns the engine...cause the engine to not fire ? In other words, if a starter is turning the engine then its not a starter problem ?

Right, the starter only turns the engine so all the other stuff can get combustion going.

Starter and ignition are different circuits. If starter is dragging, there may not be enough current to get a good strong spark. Many, many posts here on how to check for spark, but if you are not sure just ask.

wow, this new starter is heavy
got all contact surfaces cleaned and ready.
those two nuts on the long mounting bolts, once removed will the starter stay together ?
read Bruce's Tip # 36 and got to wondering.
