9N trans level plug

Good day. I have a recently aquired 1940 9N ser 10747. Would this still have the side level plug in the trans? It has a step up in it and no side plug. Also has no trans number stamped in it. I'm guessing rather than change the gears to install the Sherman they just swapped in a whole 2N transmission. TIA

That machine should have the dip stick on the rear side cover at the differential. The hyd/trans and rear diff all share the same sump. One dip stick does it all. A few people pull the lower bolt on the PTO side cover to drain the oil down and keep it from leaking past the seals onto the brakes.
The step up was pre-filled at installation and the main trans gears move oil to keep it filled.
Hope that answered your questions.

I think that serial number 9N still had the dipstick on the top transmission cover just ahead of the fill cap.
My 9n has the dipstick on the right side inspection plate. The Sherman and other auxiliary transmissions are installed in the housing where the clutch is housed.
