I bought a 41 9n the other day, I thought every thing was good with it. The lift worked well with a half disk on it, but when I put my five ft hog on it it will not pick it up. Please tell me where to start looking for the problem. Thanks

Take the side cover off at your right heel. Lift the heavy implement lookinside to see if you notice oil streaming from the upper cylinder inside. If not, look down in the oil with the load still on it and see if you notice excessive turbulence down deep in the bottom. Some movement of oil down low will be normal with the pto shaft turning..A drip once in a while is normal from the top side. If streaming or steady drip from above the top cylinder needs rebuilt. Very likely it is a weak safety valve and will be detected by turbulence in the oil. If you see turbulence down low, raise the implement as much as possible, kill the tractor then reach in and feel the end of the safety valve. If it is leaking you will feel the pressure push your finger off of the end.HTH

Could easily be what Tom said, or it could be a very dirty pump. Check out tips 3 & 4 from the link below regarding changing the oil. After you get the old fluid drained out (overnight is best) remove both inspection plates & start pulling the sludge in the pump base out by hand. Then, get a couple of gallons of kerosene or diesel fuel & pour it into the pump base. Catch it in a bucket & reuse it. (Some folks use a hand garden sprayer.) Flush the pump base out 5 or 6 times. Do not start the engine to run the kerosene through the pump; kerosene and diesel fuel do not have any lubrication properties & you will damage your pump.
