A block/hp help

I have a '46 A that has a cracked head and block. I am planning on replacing both. I want to get the hp up to 40-45 hp. Not doing this to pull, still doing farm work with the old girl. Thinking of a power block but was thinking a stock block bored out with a late style A head. What would be a good combo?

stock block bored .250 over with d-8 cat pistons.you will have to make piston bushings as cat pistons have larger pin. A good thing though you can offset bushing to give a little more compression. Stock head with a little port clean up should get you close to your goal.Paul

I would choose .125 over as .250 you'll need to find a builder. 60lp pistons, reground cam, gasket matched and milled head .250 nice valve job.

Since your going to replace the head you might consider using a 60 head with duplex carb and manifold. This will give you the power of a 60.
