A/C G Hyd. Pump

Unable to drain more than 6qts of oil from transmition and rear end. No blockage in three drain plugs. Is the other 2qts in the sump, lines and ram?

My AC G does not have a hyd pump, but the original manual does call for 8 qts in the transmission, and mine does hold 8 qts.

looked at my book again, it's really bad printing but yes it does say 8 quarts. Could someone have left it low to keep the axle seals from leaking on the brakes? or have you changed it before?

Yes over time I have changed the oil a couple of times but never measured how much came out. Nor measured how much I put back in, just filled it up to plug level. The last time I tried to use the Hyd.Pump I couldn't get any pressure so thinking that I didn't have enough oil in the sump. This is where it all started. Hoping I don't have to pull the pump. I do have Operating Instructions and Repair Parts Illustrations for Hyd.Pump -- Belt Pully and Lifting Equip. Manual Form TM-43. It says to drain the oil from Differential and Clutch and Reduction gear housing, where ever that is.

"Differential and Clutch and Reduction gear housing" that's just the main case (all three plugs) if you look at this picture of one I've got apart and draw a straight line from the oil level mark on the case, go by the fill plug and to the hole for the pump suction pipe and then take into account the amount of bend in the suction pipe. There is no way for the pipe to not be in the oil if you are filling it up to the plug level. I wounder if you've lost prime from it sitting, or if the seal has rotted that seals the pipe, or if something has happened to the pipe itself?

I was having same problem on CA. I tilted the tractor to the right, overfilled the tranny and inserted the plug then drove it on a side incline so the pump side was down. It primed itself. I then drained the excess out with the rams extended.
