A interchangable with SA

New to tractors but drove an H when I was young. Planning to buy a 1953 SA, but it has no PTO or pulley. The seller told me one could be bolted on. I know of a junk 1947 A with the PTO, is this as simple and removing it from one and bolting to the other? Thanks & Happy New Year to all.

Close but not quite. The engagement splines in a Super A PTO will not engage the drive lugs of an A top shaft. Other than the PTO engagement sleeve, a [b:44f6fc6ba7]LATE[/b:44f6fc6ba7] A PTO is identical to a Super A PTO.

This all assumes that both tractors have original type parts at present.

Just a kind of a by the way, the C used the same upper transmisison shaft as a Super A. But with the different bull gear location, the distance from the transmission to the back of the main housing is longer. So the shifter sleeve and upper PTO shaft of the C are both longer than in an A or Super A. The splined end of the C sleeve is the same as the end in a Super A.
