I was at a machinery jockey's lot in Artesian SD and saw a dozen JD chuckwagons. Thought of you when I saw them. Some older smaller ones and some of the later bigger wagons. Have never seen that many JD wagons in one place.I just bought this perfect Allis Chalmers silage wagon for my collection. It is almost to nice to use.
What was the name? Wonder if they have a web page? No more new toys after this one but I always enjoying seeing them. Will have some pics of this one in the field next week.I was at a machinery jockey's lot in Artesian SD and saw a dozen JD chuckwagons. Thought of you when I saw them. I'm trying to figure the PTO shaft out. It looks like it runs to the end of the discharge apron. But it also looks like it has a shaft to attach in the center which makes more sense. Just curious.I just bought this perfect Allis Chalmers silage wagon for my collection. It is almost to nice to use.
According to Norm Swinford the first AC forage boxes were supplied by Calhoun Co, Cedar Falls, Iowa from the late 50's through 1962. At that point AC began building their own in LaPorte. I'm guessing the one pictured is a later AC produced unit. That is a beauty! Any idea who built it?

Allis made the best built unloading wagons. The sides never racked loose like other wagons did after a time of use. Problem was, fastening the sides with "rivets" instead of nails shot the cost way beyond other brands. The ratcheting bed chain drive wasn't real nice to use if you didn't have a tractor with good brakes/park lock on it at the silo.I just bought this perfect Allis Chalmers silage wagon for my collection.
