A vs super A

Have a 39 A with a one row cultivator that I
went through this winter down to replacing a
few piston rings.(Thanks to the forum for
help on multiple occasions!) This had sat
for 30 years but now is running great. These
farmalls are amazing!

Anyway, had a friend offer me a 54 super A
for a good price (it too has sat for quite a
while). it's got a woods deck and would be
more useful to me than The cultivator with
hand lift. altho the cultivator is much more
of a conversation peice I try to buy another
tractor without getting rid of one I'll be
looking for a new wife so couple questions:

Ball park what is the a vs super a worth
assuming both were in good running condition
(but not repainted etc) with implements
mentioned above?

Are the guts on a SA pretty similar to the a
I have? Or will it be a whole new experience
tearing it apart?

The super A has hydraulics.
That is the basic difference 'tween the 2 if your "A" has electricals.

depends on lots of things as to what machines are worth. who wants them, how many want them, etc. also, what part of the country, in which the machines are located. middle Tennessee, the a will probably run $ 600 to $900 and the super a, $1300 to $1600 give or take a few.

I'd say around here, Upstate NY you are not going to see much difference in price between the two.

As far as guts go between the two they will be nearly identical just the Super A has slightly larger pistons.

If you are going to use it, a Super A is much more desirable because of the hydraulics. Back when they were 15 years old, a Super A was worth about twice an A. Now as collectables, the value isn't much different.

Other than the hydraulics, they are so similar that working on one is about the same as the other. Due to various upgrades, surprisingly few parts are actually identical between them. The pistons are among the few that are identical.
