AC 185 wiring

Harness started to burn, not sure of cause, replaced harness and all switches, everything worked, reattached regulator and batteries, regulator clicked as soon as battery hooked up. Should it do that or do I have a drain in the alternator or regulator? TIA

Regulator should only click/unclick with key ON/OFF.

If I would unhook the alternator and it doesn't click, do you think it would be alternator problem?

If the external regulator clicks when the battery is hooked up, it could be the regulator was damaged when things burnt up. Or a wire is crossed somewhere.

Alternator hooked up or not isn't the issue. Either the wires that plug into the regulator are crossed/switched or the wiring from the key switch isn't connected correctly. Regardless it is NOT the alternator.

Thanks guys, thought it could be a wire switch, will check that .Pretty sure I now know what I did wrong.

Regulator plug in the new harness was wired wrong, instead of left to right was right to left. Everything else was right, Thanks again guys.
