IH 466

Anyone got an opinion on a 8010 i would like to know general information like how good is there hydraulics, transmission, 301 engine and just overall how good are they?

Dont kno in person , but always heard they are underpowered and too heavy for the power that a 301 from the factory can produce , turnin up the pump helps , but you eventually pay for that too

Have no idea how they held up. We tried one when it was brand new. And as Doug says it was too heavy. It had 20.8x38 tires loaded. I think 18.4x38s empty would have been more appropriate. But we didn't weigh it. That's just a guess.

I ran one for 12000 hrs. Only replaced the water pump and valve cover gasket.
It did a lot of hyd work--sprayer pumps, orbit motors, etc. Hyd's were excellent.
Cheaper to opperate than any tractor I owned, but allways hated the clutch/transmission/shifting thing.Never used it for heavey field work, except an 18' tandem disc.
it had 20.8*38 with full fluid, but was not heavy enough for winter plowing snow.
best cab out there for the day!
Also liked my 4w220---especially after I put a 466 in it!

Made an adaptor plate 5/8 thick to fit bel housing to the 466. (similar to Allis motor plate) The Ihc has the starter in the same position as Allis so it fit the bel housing. And moved front motor mount locations.I used The Allis rad and air cleaner.Hood fit fine.Exhaust had to be tweaked.I had partial fill of fluid in the new inside duals which were 18.4*34.
Pulled a 40' Morris air drill like it was a harrowbar.
I would have preferred an 8.3 Ihc but they were way too expensive back then,I thought. And Maybe too much for the transmission.
