AC Allcrop 60

Hey folks been a while since I posted last. I need to pic some Allcrop brains here. After 15 years I finally found an A.C. Allcrop in excellent condition for 400 dollars. It"s an older 60. I want to ask a few questions. 1 will my 30 hp diesel tractor pull it. And are they hard to adjust. Mainly I got it to do wheat oats and soy beans on my small truck farm. Also open to any tips or tricks.

I have used my 60 for years on soybeans and wheat. It is PTO operated. I usually run it with my JD D, 44 hp. But my JB B, 22 hp, will run it fine if the ground is solid. It does take a bit of power to pull the combine if the ground is soft. 30 hp should be fine if you have enough traction to pull it. The original advertising said any good two-plow tractor(usually 22-28 hp) would handle it. Best advice I can give is get a manual from Agco, they were still available a few years ago. Yaz AllCrop has just about any part you'll ever need. They are a great old machine and will still do a good job of harvesting a crop, just don't be in a hurry.

Dad bought the 60 in 1948. 66 in 1957. Basically the same machine, 66 a bit wider cut, but we swathed oats, so not an issue. Did some beans with the 66. Did flax with the earlier 60....had "flax rolls" in it. 60, ran it with the WC, in heavy crop, ran another WC in front, pulling everything, while the second WC just ran the combine via pto.

Adjustments were way advanced in the day, compared to other makes.....cyl speed via a crank, vs changing sprockets on other brands. Same with fan speed- just turn a crank to adjust.

Especially the resource section got some literature downloads, free of charge. He may also have a (used) manual for sale, just check.
If you decide to order from AGCO and given a choice of disk or paper version, I would opt for paper. The disk will NOT let you print ANYTHING and you got to have a laptop always nearby to look at it (Deere will let you print, whole, in part, any number of times....) I learned the hard way with AGCO ....
Just rambling .... Ralph in OK.
