Acetylene Vs Propane

If you want to see someone who knows his way around a torch, check out IC Weld. The man waves the torch flame at the chunk of metal and then immediately starts cutting! Hardly any preheat? All I do is preheat. It's frustrating to watch.

I suspect that a torch with a tip requiring two oxygen feeds has something to do with his "quick preheat."

Good, fast or cheap... pick one... maybe two. This looks, fast... and good... I bet not cheap.

I wouldn't want this dude's acetylene bill. But, I'm also just cutting on old farm equipment. Between his work and maybe a little bit of youtube income. He can pay for that special torch.

I’ve got a torch head like that on my track torch. The flame adjust O2 feed is separate from the O2 cutting feed. I just have them teed together and fed by one O2 tank, it works fine up to 5” thick I know.

I wondered about that. So plasma has the same issues as arc welding when it comes to rust?
Yep you clean a spot with the grinder to start usually with one of the flapper pads but then no gas needed.

Between that and the bandsaws the torch stays in the corner on anything except the worst rusted cutting jobs or something over half inch thick. Still grab it in that case even if the plasma would technically do it putting a big tip in with the torch will get you a slightly better result than 2 passes. At least at the capacity of our plasma and Limited skill set we have here. About every 3 years we refill an acetylene bottle anymore. used to be twice a year
