Just a WAG,

But from the height, I would guess it was used to help support or stabilize the three point arms or even a load on the three point when in the raised position. I picture the stress from bouncing down the road or through the field with a brush cutter on (in the raised position) and can see where running a chain to the hanging chains for support could really limit the movement. If it was stout enough you could chain your mower up and let back down a little to take a lot of stress of the three point arms. Might tie into support for some type of rear sprayer w/ the long drop arms as well?

No idea what that could be, but, I do know the fishing is great around Deland. try to go there at least twice ayear Bream fishin'.

If the second picture is of the same thing from the first picture once it was removed from the tractor, it looks like a jury rigged seat mount, plus maybe some extra support for the 3 point arms as others have suggested. Are the original seat mount bolts broken off?

Looks like it might be some sort of limit chain set up or another way to hook up the center link for some odd reason. Some things like that unless you can talk to who ever built it, it is hard to know for sure.

Sean,it is the same, the add on is welded onto the rear of the seat mount to give it a rear support.there is nothing wrong with the seat.

old,I have a question,on this ford I had to have the clutch rebuilt,so I had the flywheel resurfaced, pressure plate rebuilt, and disk rebuilt, new pilot bearing, new throw out bearing. The clutch is still not engaging.now I was employed by the same clutch co. for over 27 years before they had to downsize 2 years ago.when I went in to get the clutch they infomed me they were going out of business in 1 wk,now they are out.what I am wondering is did they put the wrong facing on the disk a thinner one than it should have.the proper facing is one called 955b it is .145'' thick, there is another which is .125,do you think that they put the wrong facing on?

Could be as your thinking or it could be that the pressure plate has an adjustment on it that needs to be adjusted or it could have stops put on the pressure plate so installing the clutch disk is easier. And if it has the lock downs stops they need to be removed so the clutch will work

clutch problem solved,my uncle came down to my house, and tinkered a bit and fixed it,he took both hands and lifted the clutch arm, shoved the pin in,and it worked.OK I CAN'T USE BOTH ARMS.I'm not looking for pity, just understanding.cw

I applaud you for doing as much as you can without the use of one of your arms. Everyone needs help from time to time, even the most ably bodied.

I'm gonna say it was for landscaping work when they built Disney world. There would have been a pan scoop on the 3pt which would have lifted the root ball of the tree which had been delivered by the truckload. A helper tipped the ball, operator backed the pan under it. The chain, with a scrap of fire hose over it was hooked around the trunk to steady it. Then off it went to the spot where it was to be planted. How is this for imagination?

I think it's the main support for a posthole digger. The round indentation up top is the space needed to clear the downpressure cylinder when the posthole digger is at it's furthest position "up". Just a suggestion.
