Adding a skidsteer style quick connect to a tractor.

I'm looking at some industrial tractors like the MF 2200. One of them doesn't have a bucket but it seems to be in really good shape. It has a hay spear that appears to be 2 pieces of angle iron on either side. Looking through specs I see the loader pump pushes 17gpm. This seems like enough to use many of the attachments I see.

I imagine finding a bucket for it without having to fabricate would be tough but I see quick connect adapters for a couple hundred on eBay. They look like they are universal and they spread out. Would just welding those to 2 piece of angle iron like that be acceptable? Maybe move them to the inside of the bracket and weld a pipe between them where the pin goes.

Most of the quick adapters I see are tractor specific or universal and you have to cut your bucket bracket off to weld the quick adapter to it or they cost $1500+ and are for specific tractors.

I'm not a fabricator by any means but I have a small plasma cutter, a big 220v welder, and a decent mig welder. I make up for my welding skills by having become the master of the grinder.

I'll attach a picture of the hay spear so you guys have an idea of what I mean about the angle iron.

Not that this is particularly the tractor for me, I see that tractors missing their bucket seem to go for cheaper though.

If you like the tractor, buy it and then buy a skid steer quick attach blank. It will probably be hard to find something that matches your load to where it will just pin up, so buy a blank any you’ll just have to add your pin brackets.

I wouldn’t own a loader without a quick attach. I have a MF40 which is basically the same as this 2200, just newer. I’ve got the Westendorf quick attach on my, which works fine, but I have to modify every attachment I buy for it. If I had it to do over I’d get the skid steer style, that has become the standard and most attachments you find will already be setup for it.

This place will custom make SSQA adapters to fit anything. We had them make one for a White 1170 loader several years ago. Best money we ever spent.

I beleive you can get the bare plate, unbolt the square tube frame from the angle iron pieces then weld the skid steer plate to the angle iron.

some of the auction company's that sell tools and attachments will sell bare plates. i go that route as you can com up with what you need not to hard.

Looking at this sort of thing. It looks easy to put on but I just wanted to make sure it was as straightforward as it looks.

I think the angle iron mounting brackets on bale spear could be removed & attached to a universal SSQA bracket then mounting holes for boom & bucket cylinders would be in correct locations

If you buy a blank and add the pin brackets, just make sure you get the angle right. You want to make sure your bucket will have enough tilt back to hold a good load of material and also be able to tilt out enough to dump easily.
