Adding power to a 2090

Ok, just put a down payment on a 2090. I will be using it to pull a 13-16ft diskbine Swather and a 5x6 round baler through decent sized hills.

I know it doesn't have a rearend built for pulling but I was hoping to get 120 or more HP out of it at the PTO for running the hay equipment. Can I add a turbo and turn up the fuel or is it safe to just add fuel?

Will the clutches and PTO clutch hold?

just adding a turbo will give you that power easy no need to dump more fuel to it,,, not sure why you would need that much power for haying though, they are 108 hp easy stock,,, I have seen many of them here run the biggest balers with ease but to each his own, if you do add it make sure you reset the timing as well for turbo specs

What condition is the tractor and what horse power is it putting out now? A thirty plus year old tractor might already be turned up a lot or it might be due for an overhaul.

It might cost less to buy the next bigger size tractor than to upgrade a smaller one: turbo, manifolds, pistons & sleeves, cooling system. If you are splitting the load between the PTO and the wheels nether power train would be over stressed. The cooling system could be the weakest link.

You haven't seen my hills either though haha.

They make my 8930 grunt (if I don't down shift) and it runs 220 on the PTO. My MX 120 puts out 150hp and does decent being a lighter tractor but with less weight it has lost traction on hills too.

My 7240 broke the local 250hp dyno. So I'd have to dyno it at the JD house and well....

The tractor is mint, one owner planting tractor with a paint still on the buckets cutting edge.
