adjusting valves

Having just adjusted my WD45 valves Book says .010 on warm engine.Also mentioned a diesel setting of .019 on Ex. and .010 on intake."Pulling Tractor" how standred is the engine.

click on engine tab. says .012 hot for both. theres really no patern to do just go down the row so you dont miss one. I would say .012 is fine for a puller, you cant have them too tight they wont seat.

start with #1cyl. on compression and adjust #1 cyl. valves and then follow the firing order and adjust in that order. for cold adjust ment add .002. to warm setting.
 
and valves that are too tight will burn. as valve train wears the clearance decreases and causes valve burning.thats why its important to adjust valves with a tune up.
 
Make them add up to 9. that is with No 1 valve fully open adjust No 8-- with No 2 valve fully open adjust No 7 etc.
Works for all 4 pot engines.

I would set them at .013" cold. Bring No1 piston near the radiator to TDC on the compression stroke then adjust valves 1,2,3,5 counting from the fan. Then rotate the engine one full turn and adjust4,6,7,8. Hal
