On a 3x4 2270 massey/hesston the load arm from the gearbox to the plunger has 2 arms, a left and a right. How do you shim the 2 sides to get correct? Is there a measurement or a do you bolt both up and tighten up until one is clear then add shims to get symmetrical?

That would be a good question for the service manual . Hopefully there are some big baler men on here that might know

Thanks. Wehave the computer service manual... so far we haven't found it to be that helpful for some reason. I fancy I am pretty manual savvy and it seems agcoparts and service are somewhat less than great in my experience so far.

If you're referring to the shim plates with two open notches along one side they/it can go on either side or not used at all, depending on the tolerance stackup. The instructions say When connecting rods are installed, add shim(s) to either connecting rod to center and square plunger with bale chamber. From the factory there could be none, one, or several shims installed as required so for a rebuild there's a chance you won't have enough but they'd be simple to make yourself.

OK that is my assessment of it. Measure the plunger from the bale chamber side and shim them so that each side is square on the loadarms/connecting rod. Thanks.
