AGCO for sale??

Their CEO was on CNBC toady, while being interviewed the interviewer (sorry I don't remember his name) said rumors were circulating that AGCO might be for sale or a target purchase by another company. The CEO said "we don't comment on things like this." Who knows?

I knve not driven any of their current production tractors but their product line looks better than a few years ago. Biggest complaint I hear is parts support for discontinued tractors.

Parts support on anything they are responsible foris poor. They don't believe in quick turnaround. I like my white planter but trying to get parts is a crapshoot in our area and ordering anything quick is impossible. Three days is "fast" for them.

I saw that interview as well. He didn't want to comment, which makes me think something might be in the works. I wonder who it could be (Chinese)???

To be fair, the parts supply chain for the about 20 different brands they've brought together must be a nightmare, as parts are outsourced and global. Must be something to keep up with all that.

They aren't the best tho from what I hear. The local dealers do very well on Gleaner tho, they have stuff on the shelves for 30 year old machines at 7:00pm for me the last decade.

Who needs combines and planters, and some tillage tools? That seems to be agco's strong suits. Massey was never popular or even available 100 miles around me, so the tractor line is invisible to me.....

New Holland, tho they could pull from Case, wouldn't need another under their roof.

Kubota bought the tillage company a bit ago, are they going to really gun for the ag market???? :)

Just some over seas investment company looking to buy, the whole farm complex is considered a good investment roght now with the good crop prices - for now. Some robber baron investor to pick it up as a good buy? That would be a blow-up....

Be interesting to see, think this rumor has come up for years now.

Richenhagen,s did make the statement .. He wants AGCO to be and agriculture Company. They purchased GSI grain storage people and are looking at purchasing an Irrigation company. With their heavy debt can,t see where anyone would want to buy them. About the best they have going now is the Massey line and it is still not real strong. If intrest rates were to suit back up I think they would be hurting.

Depends on the dealer and what they handled before I guess. The one I go to was an Oliver/White dealer. They still bend over backwards to service those customers. I've heard that the two around here who used to be AC dealers are miserable to get White parts from. By the same token,I have an AC planter and the former White dealer doesn't even like to talk to me about it. I might as well go to one of the other dealers.

Our local dealer was originally a MF shop. They just don't seem to be serious about getting more of their brand out. They are getting squeezed by the deere, and case IH dealers in the area. I understand that you can't stock everything for every machine but that said 3 days to get a part for a down machine in season is unacceptable, especially when any other dealer/brand will usually have it next morning at 8 am unless it is real exotic and not in any of the warehouses. They used to have 75% of the combine business in the area until the IH axial flow came out. They probably don't have 5% now. With their parts situation no way I'd have a MF combine even though they have a pretty good machine now.

Local AGCO dealer here was great until last summer. Was co-owned by brothers who decided to retire. One had run the sales side and the other the was teh parts manager. They also had a great crew in the shop. They were bought out byanother dealer trying to expand. The guy that ran the parts department decided to stay on a couple of years because he was friends wiht a lot of the customers. 1st thing the new owener did was send over 1 million dollars worth of parts inventory back to AGCO. Now this parts guy is retired and most of the mechanics have left too. BIL just had them rebuild the engine in his 8070 AC. Took em 3 months. Had trouble finding a new crank. They told him that it was NLA when in fact it was. They were able to get it through a Cat dealer who sell the Challenger line. Kinda wonder if AGCO isn't finished in the area.

Bad attitude seems to keep them coming back to the Deere Super Store, maybe your Agco dealer figures what works for Deere will work for them.
