Air cleaner wire pad

Can anyone tell me how the air cleaner wire pad that is inside get replaced. Do you have the grind off the stop welds ? Or am I missing something.
It"s a TO-30 filter.

As far as I know the easiest way is to drill out the spot welds, then I took a jack knife and stuck a blade in between the two pieces of metal and hit the blade to cut through the rest of the spot weld as you don't want to use to big of a drill. Once this is done then you should be able to grab the three legs and turn it out, when you are ready to replace use pop rivets. Use the drill for the size of pop rivets you can get. Really quite simple I know because I did mine. LOL

Before you take the filter apart, you might consider cleaning it.

I soaked my filthy air cleaner in a 5 gallon bucket with diesel overnight. (You can use lacquer thinner, gasoline, etc but diesel is less flamable.)I then sloshed the filter around upside dowwn and decanted the dirt and grit out of the the bucket and resoaked the filter. I did this over a week and mine came clean. Easier than taking it apart i think.
