Air filter media material question.

A major manufacturer of filters lists a filter with cellulose media, and one with enhanced cellulose media filter. Tractor manufacturers parts site doesn't state filter media. Is one better?. Tractor mostly mows grass, only dirt work is occasionally box blade or disk harrow 45 ho naturally aspirated diesel. Thanks

I've never heard of a cellulose media filter.
Last year I did an experiment using a cheap fiberglass furnace filter I used scissors and cut to fit.
I added a second filter behind the window AC's I use in rentals.
For the first time ever, the fiberglass filter prevents black mold from growing inside the AC's
The filter on the left is the second fiberglass filter I added and the filter on the right is the OEM AC filter.
You can also buy cheap foam filters you can add to your original filter.
The second filter proves the OEM screen like filter doesn't do a very good job.

The filters I buy for some of my Case tractors from NAPA , 7011, have changed over time to a cheaper media, not sure what it is. Pointed it out to counterman who has been around for years, not surprised. Cost has went from $11 to $21.

Cellulose = paper. Never seen one that wasn't since the oil bath went obsolete. Don't think "enhanced " will help you any.

George most folks who read more would know that cellulose is paper. One coule enhance basic paper with all kings of additives to make the pores smaller or one could simply adjust the paper machine that makes it. Sounds to me like enhanced cellulose media is a advertising phrase. What I would NOT do is to trust something home made.

One of my tech school instructors told us that, An oil bath air cleaner gets less efficient, as it becomes saturated. A dry air filter becomes more efficient, because it further restricts passage of dirt particles, until it reaches it's saturation point.

The enhanced cellulose filter has fibers that are smaller diameter and longer, providing more open space in the filter paper, but the holes are not any larger. You get slightly longer life out of the filter. If you are not having filter plugging issues on a regular basis, either will work just fine.

There is also synthetic media filter paper, aka plastic fibers used in some applications.

Did you have day by day comparisons of the humidity for say the last four years so that your results could be considered meaningful?

cellulose is wood pulp fiber, enhanced probably means it also has fiberglass or polyester fibers as reinforcement. Any filter, look for particle size efficency (can't spell that word). that means largest particle size that will get thru and what % will be filtered out.

What do you have in that Kubota you keep showing us? My 3 have paper as do all my cars and trucks accept for the 49 Pontiac.
