Air filter oil level?

850. Oil cup on air filter has confusing marks for full. One up high says “oil level“and the one down much lower says “Hi”. See pic. Which one is the correct fill level?

The stamped in lines on either side of Oil Level is the fill level. Here are a couple of pictures of what is shown in a 600/800 manual. This manual doesn’t mention it but my WAG is the HI mark is a dirt level that is near restricting air flow. It says to “check” the air cleaner every 10 hours. If that much dirt collected in there in 10 hours I hope the operator had a mask on! Everyone knows that only the most finicky operator would follow that interval.
PS check your PMs by clicking the letter/envelope at the top right.

Here's what the Operator's manual says, mark at OIL LEVEL, also gives an amount 1.3 pints. I don't think HI stands for high, mine says HH so it might be some type of ID.

View attachment 102041The oil cup on our jubilee says "HH" in that location, maybe yours has a weak stamping?
I researched this, HH is a manufacturer mark for HOUDAILLE-HERSHEY. They were a parts supplier to the auto industry (and apparently the tractor industry). Here is a link to a thread with a response from the well-known John Smith. I found no references to similar air cleaners marked HI and therefore it must be an HH, light stamping, or mistake.

I tried to correct my original post saying I thought the line under the "HI" was the fill level but I guess it won't take an edit and kept the original. I didn't notice the line at the "oil level" which I believe is the fill line. Sorry about that.
