Allis 230 vs 262

Can anyone tell me how to easily differentiate between a 230 and a 262 from a gleaner combine? I am in need of a 262 and a distant yard has a good running engine from a gleaner but unsure if its the 230 or
262. I'm not sure I ever saw a 230. Thanks

Tag on the engine block will say "G-230" or "G-262". The 230 only comes from Model A or A-2 combines. The 262 comes from C or C2 or early model F Gleaners.

if it happens to be diesels the 230 will have older bosch pump and 262 will have roosa-master. don't say not made because i have one of each here at my farm. also 262 turbo off C2. all combine motors

I have an A2 with a G-230 in need of a camshaft and oil pump. The idler gear in the pump seized, hard to figure out as it runs in oil and there was no debris. Anyhow, do parts from a 262 interchange with my 232 ?

I would assume if they are approximately the same age engines, the parts would interchange. I've never heard of an oil pump failure on any of those engines. I guess someone had to be first.
