allis b piston pins

HELLO, I AM OVERHAULING AN ALLIS B. I BOUGHT A SET OF 3 7/16 INCH BORE PISTONS AND SLEEVES FOR IT. THE PISTONS ARE ALUMINUM INSTEAD OF CAST, AND DO NOT HAVE BRASS BUSHINGS. WHEN I PUT THE RODS ON AND THE PINS IN THE PISTONS THEY ARE VERY SNUG. IT MAKES MY ENGINE VERY HARD TO TURN OVER. THE PAPERWORK SAYS THEY SHOULD BE LOOSE AT ROOM TEMPERATURE WHICH THEY ARE, BUT WHEN IN THE COLD BLOCK THEY ARE SNUG. ANY INFO WOULD BE GREAT. ALSO DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE OIL PUMP SHOULD BE PRIMED BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE? THANKS.

If the pins have light oil on them they should push back and forth in the piston with ease.

The oil pump needs to be primed before starting the engine.

make sure you put the connecting rods on the right way. two point left, two point right. if you dont do that they will bind. also the connecting rods are offset in the pistons. when installed, they might be pushed to the front or rear slightly and bind on the crank. when in the cylinder, pull the rod down toward the crank and see if it is centered well, or are you putting it in a bind when torqueing the bolts?
