looking to buy an old AC 190 gas from a neigbor. The owner died and they are selling the tractor. Has been outside for over 3 years without running. they said it ran when they parked it.

Any idea if there are any problems with this model tractor? drive train, hydraulic, or engine problems? What is this tractor worth?

Appreciate your advice.
regards

Too little information.
Everything use to run if you go back far enough.
I assume it don`t run now and the here and now is what we are dealing with. A restored 190 is worth several bucks, $5000 and up I'd guess. A running 190 in old work clothes is usually around $3000. A not running one is a parts tractor unless and until someone gets it running and knows what that cost, it could be a bunch. Same deal with transmission and rear end. I'm going to guess $1500 unless she really looks good. Rims and tires sure aren't cheap.

Thanks for the information ... I really don't have any more info right now .. will be hooking up a battery to see if she turns over on labor day weekend. If not froze up, I am hoping we can get her running with minimal work ... may have to do some electrical/carb work. Full rebuild kit for the engine is around $1300 ... hope I can get it running for next season for under $2k.

Really just wondered if there were any known gotchas with this model. Some tractors (like cars) have things that are bad about all of that model. Wondered if anyone heard anything like this above the AC 190 gas.

Thanks for the info.

Early 190s were a bit weak in the rear axles. I would think that after nearly 50 years that problem would be corrected on most of them. I don't believe I`d spend too much time on the electrical at this point. If she ain`t stuck I rather try and get her running with a pull than a crank.

Seems to me the early 190's had a reputation for weak transmissions, as in jumping out of gear. Usually 2nd on the trans, which would be 3rd and 4th on the final drive, which would be the main field gears.

The 190 gasser was built from 1964 thru 1969 had a 265ci inline 6 was rated at 75hp at the pto I hardly doubt the gasser would put enough strain on the rearend to cause significant damage and if I remember right the rearend became suspect on the 190XT with a turbo and the fuel screw was messed with pushing close to 120hp or more. Watch for stuck valves and get your checkbook out for gas. I'm not going into the jumping out of gear problems I've learned that is caused by operator error so know the previous owner well. Good Luck CT

Thanks for the info ... just trying to know what i'm getting into before jumping from the fryin pan to the fire ... any other info is most appreciated.

thanks
