Allis Chalmers B

How well does the B handle a 5ft belly mower? Which is a better set up with a belly mower, the allis or a Farmall cub? I know nothing about either tractor, other than what information I can find on the web? Thanks

I have an Allis C with a 5' belly mower, and it handles the mower well. The C has the same engine and transmission as a B.

Ive had both, both with belly mowers, no doubt in my mind. B Allis Chalmers would definitely be the one Id go with.

Just FYI
Cub mower is different than others. Rotation direction.

Don't know anything about the Farmall, but mowed with a B and a 5' Woods L59 mower for decades before going to a zero turn of the same width. The sweet spot for me was high throttle in 1st gear, but I have a pretty hilly, sometimes rough, 5 acres to mow. Throttled down a little in 2nd gear on flat land with not too high of grass would probably work well and go faster. As long as I kept the drive belt guitar-string tight I'd get about 3 seasons out of it and not have much invested in it other than fuel, oil changes, and the occasional ignition part. Except for that time my wife felt like mowing and one of the external oil lines broke from vibration stress, ran all the oil out of it, and it got a new crank and bearings. Other than that, pretty economical outfit and did a good job of finish mowing.

The Allis Chalmers B will handle a 5 ft mower with no problem. I have a L59 woods finish mower on my AC B tall heavy grass is no problem for the tractor.
