Allis Chalmers G Starter

Hello,
I am rebuilding the 6 volt starter for my Allis Chalmers G tractor. I can not read the model number on the Delco Remy tag.
I want to stamp and install a new tag when I am finish. Can someone please tell me what the correct model number is?

Thank you,

Kurt

I put the old tag under a LARGE magnifying glass today. I believe I see 11?4930 or 11?4980. Hope this helps to narrow it down.

Thanks,

Kurt

JoeM(GA) matches what I've got in my DELCO REMY FARM-INDUSTRIAL POPULAR PARTS CATALOG VOLUME 1 1946-1960. According to this publication, the Model G used a 1109065 from 1948-1951 and from 1952-1956 it was a 1109614.

I know that the Model G ended it's production run in 1955 but the catalog has 1952-1956.

Best regards,

Scott

What little information I can see on the tag is not correct or I need a bigger magnifying glass. LOL
Does your parts book have a listing for the armature? The number that is stamped on the one that I have is 1911473.
Maybe we can I identify this starter from the armature.

Thanks,

Kurt

According to the Delco Remy Catalog, 1911473 is the correct armature for the 1109614 starter. The individual parts of the 1109065 starter are not listed in the catalog.

The catalog's starter section begins with 1107010 and ends with 1114117. I was trying to see if the catalog had 1104930/80 or 1114930/80 to check the armature on those starter numbers (if they existed). If they exist, they are not in this catalog.

Is there any chance that the last 4 numbers you are looking at are a date code? If this were so, the "9" in 4930 should actually be a letter of the alphabet.

The date of manufacture code contains a calendar year prefix (“4” for 1954 or 1944), followed by the month (“A” for January through “M” for December; the letter “I” was not used to represent the month of September), ending with one or two digits representing the date of the month (“1” through “31”).

I doubt if this is the case but I thought it was worth asking.

Best regards,

Scott

Hi Scott,

This is very good news about the armature, outstanding!

The numbers that I posted earlier from the data tag were stamped on the left side. I am not 100% sure but I do believe that they are not the date code. The right side of the tag looks to be blank.

Does the parts book list a date for when that armature was used?

Thank you,

Kurt
