Allis Chalmers HG3

What would be the value of a HG3 in good running order. I'm paying 2200 for a track loader HG3 with a rebuilt motor (only 2hr on it)and the UC is at 75%. The frame and body is in good shape with no rust. Only the seat is bad. And is this is a very good machine? Thanks

Do you mean an HD3? The "D" stands for diesel. Crawler-loaders tend to sell $2500 - $4000 in my area, and dozers with 6-way blades bring more. Much depends on condition. I've got an HD4 which is a bit heavier, same undercarriage, and a 200 c.i. engine instead of the 175.

For $2200 - if it runs and steers well, and the undercarriage has life in it - you're getting a good deal.

I never heard an H3 referred to as an HG3 - loader or not. Makes it sound like an Oliver Cletrac which did market an HG crawler (I've got two).

H3 gas came with two different sized engines, the later based on the D15 wheel-tractor.

H3 - dozer or loader - before serial # 6001 has a 149 c.i. engine.

H3 - dozer or loader - serial # 6001 and up has a 160 c.i. engine.

I asked the same question about the letter G and i was told that was what a agco dealer told the owner. When every it had a loader in stead of a blade it had a G in name. I was told it was a d14 motor, and i know this is the H3 that used a ag tractor engine and tranmission, it could be a d15. The owner is know expect on tractor that for sure. If i need any parts in future what do you suggest. I'm picking it up this week i look up the serial numbers and get it figured out. Thanks

I know about the G designation - Allis used it on several crawlers. I have an HD6G sitting here. An H3 crawler-loader - technically is an H3G.

Many parts are still availble new from Allis Gleaner Co. Some new parts are being made again - and they are also selling off new parts from old-stock with Allis Chalmers numbers on them. Plenty of used parts around too. Marshals Equipment in PA used to be an Allis Chalmers industrial dealer - and is still an AGCO (Allis Gleaner) dealer. They sell new and used. I'm sure there are many others around the country.
Tractor salvage yard down the road from me has 6 or 7 small Allis crawlers - H3s, HD3s, and a few HD4s..
