ALLIS-CHALMERS model {m} crawler

I just purchased an allis-chalmers mo. M crawler.
Where do I find the serial # and how do i decode it for the year of manufacture.

I found the serial no. on mine. There is a rectangular boss on the top of the transmission case on the right hand side (sitting in the seat) right behind the zerk fitting that lubes the main clutch throughout bearing.

Mine is WM 1401 which I assume means wide M. I am surprised the number is so low because mine is a later model because it has the rounded corners on the seat.

The date may be hard to pin down. My serial number book does not list the M"s. The YT serial no department shows them starting with no 1 in 1930.
I belive they were made up until 1940 or so.
