Allis Chalmers paint

I?m about to try my hand at painting a 1943 C. Does anyone have experience with the Tractor Store implement pInt and should I use it? At the moment I?m planning to get the $20.00 HVLP gun and see how that works out.

Most of the work painting a tractor is cleaning the dirt and grease off. Don't take any shortcuts there or the paint will peal off. When considering paint keep in mind the color red is most prone to fade. If you want the color to last especially if the tractor is in the sun a lot is to use an automotive paint. I know it's expensive but will last more than double the duty life of alkyd paints. Now having said that I have a Kubota tractor which contains about 25% red pigment I painted 10 years ago and the paint and color is still good. I used the Rustoleum tractor and implement paint. The tractor had been previously painted with the same type paint but made by Valspar and the color was peach colored within a year. Never seen paint fade so fast.

That implement paint is perfectly good to put over a 5 hour prep job, however, if you have cleaned it up good and removed all grease and rust and primed it, and have a fair amount of time in it that cheap alkyd enamel is worse than leaving it like it was.

I highly recommend the tall mans ag specialties, very good , even brush on looks great .
I?ve used magic also with hardener from a hvlp also .
For the money I prefer Tallmans
