allis id number

i have a 1948 allis chalmers wd i found the id numers on the left brake housing and according to external_link its a 1948. my question is that on the engine block it has WD275881GA stamped on it. is this a wd engine or a wd45? it has a power crater sticker but anyone can put a sticker on it. the stroke is around 4 1/4" which is inbetween a wd and a 45

If it has a straight gear shifter it should be a WD a few wd"s had bent shifters, but very few I took apart just one when I was a AC mech. wd45"s had bent shifters. constant mesh gears. wd"s had 4in stroke, wd45;s 4.5 stroke.

look on the right side of the motor. If its a
WD it will have a plate on the side of the motor with about 6 or 8 bolts, the head will be about 2 and 1/2 inches high. The WD 45 will have no plate on the right side (all cast)and the head is about 3 1/2 inches high give or take.

Hope this helps.
