i've liked and wanted to ask about the idea of an OT forum, a real one for all the OT posts on here. This is a sting, i mean a poll, yeah, a poll about it. All you have to do is go to the modern view and vote. I voted for it, i think people should be able to post OT stuff here about Car bumpers, trucks, cows, etc. but just not on here

Bah I think it's just fine. Sometimes people get hung up on that it is called Tractor Talk and more than tractors are discussed. Maybe if it was renamed "General" or "The Coffee Shop", but I'm sure some would pi$$ and moan about that too.

Make another forum and everyone will use one and the other will get no traffic and die.

Sorry, but the variety of conversation is what keeps me coming back to this site. I like old tractors dearly, but I want more than that to think about throughout the course of my day. Like was mentioned, this is my "morning coffee shop", and I really enjoy it the way it is now.

"Coffee Shop" is pretty accurate. I jump on here every am after chores with a cup of coffee or six and go through every board. The tractor talk is by far the most informative and humerous as well as thoughtful. I like to read every post and most replies. It is my beleif that the more that goes in my eyes the more may stick in my brain, knowledge is power, and these post, and all the "been there-done thats" may help me or someone else some day. After supper it's tractor talk and a beer, or six!

Same for me.

Besides, anyone interested in old tractors is also liable to be interested in the best pickup for hauling, motor oil discussions, weather discussions, property lines discussions, etc... Just like we talk about on here!

Now if a big group starts talking about copiers and office supplies all the time - we might need to get them THEIR own discussion group! ha...

Well Lanse, if you look at the list of forums you will notice that there is already a politics and OT forum. Why start another?

So pour me another cup of coffee
for it is the best in the land.
And put another nickel in the jukebox
and play That Tractor Drivin Man.

what the smell? I posted this thread the other day, it should be about two pages back. I know thats not how i put the link in there, is it? This is strange

When I log in, I go to the tractor forum first, then the MF for on-topic discussion. If I have time, I check out the ferguson and N pages. I am very grateful for the moderation of off color language. Although I have had posts that were perfectly clean and reasonable rejected due to language. I looked at the OT Political board once and that was enough.

I have learned much from the questions that I posted and learned considerably more about topics that others bring up. Heck, I have only seen one Gleaner before in my life. Now I am following a resto.

Who would have thought that low fluid level in a transfer case would prevent the 4wd from engaging? Makes sense now, but I would have not thought of it. It was filled before it went into the shop and it turned out that they had drained it when the engine/tranny was pulled.

Keep her the way she is...

Just my view,

Aaron

I think there is a forum for trucks, as for another forum? Why. what is wrong with this the way it is? If people did not like this forum or the contents, you would not see all the posts. So, just leave well enough alone.

Dont matter. Kim had OT boards and nobody used them. She had one on each board I believe so that regualrs to one particualr board could have a ccess to the pages particualr OT board, or maybe it was just a link to one OT board I dont recall now. Kim and the crew put a lot of effort into this board but seem to have given up on trying to please everyoner and just let things ride because of a few know it alls love to complain until it hurts everyone. Ive given up hope of this ever being a true antique tractor board anymore, except for the hood shots of those who have time to take such pictures and post them instead of doing the work they claim to be so far behind on.

Leave it alone an' quit yer snivlin' or brown nosin' or whatever your doin'!!!!!

Seems to me you posted quite a few lawn mower topics on this very board.

I know you've used the "correct"board for that topic lately, but you didn't get quite the response or diverse answers like you did here.Am I right?

As long as O/T topics are clearly marked as such, shouldn't be ANYONE complainin'.

The OT board is still here and just became a political BS and personal pot shot location instead so what would be new or better with another one?

The trouble with an OT board is, many of us don't have time for going through several different boards, and we are not hung up on only talking about old tractors. Sum total is that the Tractor Board is the one we go to for our morning coffee shop, then maybe to a specific board for our interests (Oliver and Cockshutt for me), then on to making a living. There are enough guys on here that want a clean, non-flame environment that we pretty much shout the crazies down, and they disappear. Lets not try to fix something that isn't broken. Just keep labeling your threads accurately, with OT added, so we can skip by if not interested.

Keep it as is. I enjoy all subjects and visiting with the he older people and glad to see some younger ones in there. Neil

Leave it alone Lanse.

The more forums you have, the more you break up the crowd, the less posts, the less people that will visit.

This is fine the way it is.

Gary

Lanse,

There is a forum for car bumpers it is paint and body forum. I like it the way it is. Like others said this is kinda like go'n to the coffie shop with out get'n outta the house. There is an OT page that is alot of politcal rib poking and name calling. (Fun to read, just don't post there much.) You asked on this forum a while back about your chickens. Maybe if you want to lobby for a new forum it should be one for livestock. If you want to know abut an H you found ask the Farmall forum, or here you pick. By the way, what did you mean by "Auction scumbag" in another post? Just wonder'n who that was aimed at.

Dave
