almost done

Just about finished with my 8N maintenance project... just need to change the oil, reattach the wire for the rear light and put the tire chains back on. I replaced:

clutch disc
pilot and throwout bearings
bendix
ring gear
tranny input seal
hydraulic fluid
rear axle seals
PTO shaft seal

This was my second time doing the axle seals but the first at everything else, and my first split. I finished bolting it together tonight and fired it up - started right up, no bendix/ring gear clash anymore. Put the clutch in, stuck it in reverse, let out the clutch... nothing. Uh oh. What could I have missed??

Well, I wanted it out of the garage so I rolled it out and parked it on the driveway. Then it came to me... the Sherman! I pulled the dash knob of the Sherman step-up all the way out, tried it again, it worked! Whew - that was a scary moment...

"This was my second time doing the axle seals"

Hubs?

I missed that one a couple of times myself.

Then I found out I could find them on the Internet for $45 each.

If your rear axel seals start leaking again, you will then know what I know now.
