alternative engine

HIALL, I have a AC WC with engine issues and was considering to buy a secondhand engine for it, what would be the best up-grade engine to look for ??that would fit, my wc is 1935 unsettled, your help would be much appreciated in this matter.

Not an AC guy,but I think a WD or WD45 engine would be your best bet,especially if you want to be close to 'factory'. However,if you want something more 'exotic',like a V8;diesel;inline 6,or..... Your immagination is the only limiting factor.

I may be wrong, but I think a D-17 will drop in.

WD, WD45, D-17, 170, Gleaner model E combine.
You may need to swap some mounting parts and maybe the governor.

One time I found a LeRoi 50HP engine, about 226cid I believe and it bolted right into a WC. I used it on a Gehl mix-mill and ate up the transmission gear that drove the PTO. So, if you up the power in your WC, be careful how you use it.

I've got an engine out of an F Gleaner if you're interested. No it is not a Government Motors engine either.

The E Gleaner will fit, you have to cut a small notch out of the frame rail,maybe a 1/4 deep,X a inch long, to make room for a housing, on the right front corner of the WC, other than that it fits nice !!!
