I want your opinion. For tractor pulling, could a guy get by without running an alternator if you charged the battery before every pull ?
 
Yep you could . Might get and extre a foot or two , depends on the your tractor , with any details . Try it on same trac,same time of day, same humidity. Same tire pressure Samar everything.
 
It becomes a pain in the rear without an alternator. We used to not run them and about half way through the pull you need to put a charger on to keep a charge. most systems work better with a full charge. The fuel pumps on ours would start loosing pressure and the MSD box didn't do as well. We put the alternators on and it has been a lot less stressful at the pulls.
