Any body ever seen any info on who had what percentage of the tractor market at one time? I did some research and looked into 1937 large two plow row crop tractors(just by looking at serial numbers in that year) and found that nearly 100000 tractors in this class were made in 1937. This is what it looked like:
Farmall F-20 36%
Allis WC 29%
Deere B 18%
Oliver 70 11%
Moline MTA 1%
Massey Challenger 1%
I know it dosent add up to 100% but I couldn"t find any info on Case or some others. I would sure like to see some real info on this.

The John Deere B compairs to the F12 Farmall and none of the others in your list. It takes the John Deere A to compair to an F20, WC, Oliver 70. The Moline and Massey you mention I don't know anything about. In 1937 AC and Oliver did not make a tractor in size to compair to the john Deere B

I always thought the A was a three plow tractor. I don't know much about the moline either.

This Web site livinghistoryfarm.org will tell you alot about tractor sales and such, tractors sales started out in 1937 as 100,000 overall and annual sales continued to go up through the years to about 500000 a year until the 50's then sales started to tail off and now sales are somewhat similar to the early 40's though most sales now are much bigger tractors and fewer brands. In 37 there were few tractor choices. IH, ALLIS, JD were the big ones but a lot of others were there, You would have to research each other brand. Also try external_link for some info on old models, it may not be totally accurate but close.

Untill the gas tractor of 1947 and up the A was not a 3 plow tractor but Deere called the 41-46 A a 3-14 or 2 16 plow tractor but it was only about 3 HP different than the F20 and the 34 to 39 A was virtualy identical to the F20 in Horsepower. With the introduction of the larger gas engine of 1947 the B became the same size as the 37 A JD or the F20 or the WC. he model 50 JD was called a 2 plow tractor with 31 PTO HP and the 41-46 A had 29 PTO HP
