how do you hook up ammeter on 1952 ford 8n ?
it has no headlights ,the old ammeter completly gone. the new one has a "L" ON ONE SIDE AND A "B" ON OTHER SIDE. SOMEONE SAID JUST USE THE B SIDE HOOK IT TO STATER SIDE OF BATTERY THEN TO BATT ON VOLTAGE REGULAR THEN TO ING.
NOT SURE IF THAT IS CORRECT.
ITS A 6 VOLT POSITIVE GROUND.
THANKS FOR ANY INFO I CAN GET ON THIS

On your ammeter, B probably means "battery" and L means "Load". Most modern ammeters are designed for negative ground systems, so the odds are you should hook it up backwards.

In other words, attach the B terminal to the ignition (and lights) side of the circuit and the L terminal to the battery side of the starter solenoid.

If the ammeter reads backwards (says discharge when charging), then just reverse the wires on the ammeter.

If the ammeter reads backwards, swap the connections between the two terminals.

rob69........surprizingly enuff, 0-center ammeters don't care pos (B) ...or... neg (L) only you care. It screws with yer eyeballs. (grin) Iff'n it reads the "wrong" direction, just change the connections. Simple, eh? BTW, ammeters don't care 6-or-12 volt, ok? ........Dell, electronics engineer
