Amp Meter wiring

On my 1950 8N, S/N 291966: I had to replace gauges and wiring harness upon rebuild and I ordered the 8NGAUGEKIT and 8N14401C harness. My old amp gauge had the 'loop through' style of wiring, while the new one has two electrical posts. Do I simply cut the wire and hook to a post and reconnect to the other post with the rest of the wire and continue on? If so does it matter which post I go to first?

es, that is what you do. Then if meter shows charge when it should show discharge AND if it shows discharge when it should show charge, you then simply swap wires on the terminals.

Thank you. I just wanted to make sure that I would not burn or short anything out. It makes sense though that it would only read backwards. Thanks again.

I had the old type amp guage as well. I just added a short wire with terminals instead of cutting wire. I may try and get the old gauge restored.

Thanks. That was better than cutting and splicing. Sometimes the most obvious is not so obvious (to me anyway).
