So i have already asked a question about the amp meter but i am just trying to see if iam about to mess my alt. up in the long run.

Question: When i crank the tractor the niddle on the meter moves over to +30 sometimes, but while the tractor is in idle it moves back to the middle(0). Trying to figure out if there is a problem or not? Thanks.

Ms boy, when you say "crank the tractor" do you mean with the starter before the engine is running? If you are cranking the engine with the starter trying to start the engine and the amp meter is showing +30 amps you have the meter wired backwards. With starter engaged it should show a discharge (-), at idle no charge (0), and at higher RPM a charge (+). Just reverse the wires on the back of the gauge.
