Any suggestions??????

It dont sound like nuttin money n work cant fix

With tractor NOT RUNNING, turn on lights and amp gauge shows a positive charge instead of a negative discharge.

She was originally POSITIVE GROUND you know..What you say tells me EITHER the amp gauge is wired bass ackwards n needs the leads swapped side to side OR ELSE the gauge is correct but you installed the battery at the incorrect Neg ground..

Crank tractor--no charge, poloarized system and cut-out stuck showing a positive charge after tractor was shut down.Blew my mind!!! Any suggestions???

If it were mine Id wire it at the original POSITIVE GROUND,,,,,,repolarize the genny,,,,,,make sure shes wired correct,,,,,,,,,insure ammeter is correct this time (lights on not running if wired right it swings to - discharge),,,,,,, see what happens.. The Cutout relay requires a good ground also remember and the light switch needs a good ground cuz its what provides a ground for the gennys FLD post......

John T---You were dead on!! But I must explain: This tractor has been in my family since I can remember. It was the only one my dad ever had. I remember plowing peach trees when I was 12 years old. That generator didn't work back then.So I know that my dad didn't know that it had a positive ground . Probably replaced the battery and hooked it up negative to negative and positive to positive. The amp gauge was busted, so when the battery ran down, he just put a charger on it for a while and here we went again. Thanks very much for Your help!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the feedback and your use of the term "dead on" brings to mind a funny that we were told just last week at the RV Retirement Village we are staying at........ We were playing a card game Hand and Foot and we had discards which I told my partner TO BURY........Another player informed me THEY PREFER WE SAY BURN THE DISCARDS cuz they dont like to say "bury" in that old folks village lol
