Anybody have any thoughts on getting this out of a hot water heater. 1 1/16 wrench. Tried an impact wrench, no go. Tried a breaker bar with extension and only succeeded in moving the entire heater. Soaked with Kroil for a week, and tried impact wrench again, no go. Maybe a bigger impact wrench or an induction heater? Can't use a torch because of the foam insulation.

Hey, big brother man..... kindly explain why ya needed to " clean up" the language I used in my humble advice advanced in this thread thingy! Did I miss spell something? I recall no " 4 letter" words. Mostly casual, yet more or less Queens English used ! FYI, I supervised, or changed myself, thousands of pounds of "zinks" over decades. Sometimes custom machin8ng them for the application, et cetera. Highly unlikely I misspoke. Others gave reasonable advice, also. If you think you know better, kindly so state. If you must change other man's words, kindly revise my handle to Go woke, Go broke.."
It's unclear who you're talking to.

FWIW, water heater anodes are either aluminum or magnesium, not zinc. Zinc anodes are used to protect aluminum objects but zinc isn't isn't typically used for steel water tanks.

I recieved an alert that my above post, or posts, we're redacted. I believed I referred to the water heater sacrificial nodes as same, and only referenced "zink" as I relayed a bit of my humble experience. Zink is widely used for steel water tanks, salt water, mostly within attached piping. Perhaps my strident editor never understood the word definition and historic use of the most common phrase " don,t queer the deal". A most basic di tionary may serve better than the electronic version of white out. Sad commentary on modern grammer schools. Insulating the " holder plugs" with Teflon tape is and has been officially discouraged. I consided that a bit , teflon tape, is ok, just do not over do. That may be the root trouble with my previously offered polite comments, but I an poor at decoding the troubles with the ignorant with some editing capabilities, but I digress.

How old is the water heater?
I have done practically everything suggested to no avail. It has been my practice to change these along with the flush about every 2 years and they are always very eaten away. I am down to trying an induction heater or doing nothing. Many thanks to all the responders.
