another 1020 carb issue.

i have a 70 1020 with the stupid solenoid removed and the manual one installed. new glass bowl fuel pump installed. new rebuild on carb. problem is it will only idle. soon as you try to give it throttle the governor kicks in and she stutters and dies. i have the idle screw at 1.5 rounds out. and the load is 1.75 rounds out. choke is off. if i move the load needle when running it will not really do much even when trying to give it throttle. when she dies i have to reset it back to 1.75 rounds otherwise she won’t even hit. nothing has been adjusted or moved other than fuel pump and carb.

Is the gas in the tank new? Take gas line off the carb and crank the engine, do you have good gas flow? If all good, sounds like the load circuit is plugged in the carb.

she has a great stream of fuel. the jet and seat are both new. i will change the load needle tonight to the old one and see what she will do. i had the intake pipe full of fuel at one time before i knew that the float was not floating.

i put new needle jets and all parts except for the cast part of the carb. i just changed out the load needle to the old one and now she is loading up and popping through the exhaust. that tells me she is getting to much fuel. i adjusted the load needle with it reved up as high as it will go. and adjust the load needle where it looses power and back out one turn. no joy. half turn out from power loss and same 1/4 and everywhere in between same thing.
