Hytran or ATF Which is the right oil. How many gallons in an 830 COM. How many gallons in the hyd/rear section. My suction screens was plugged, pulled rear section and cleaned, need to refill and hopefully fixes the problem.

What year 830 ? Case-o-matic unit or hyd ? Some of the early 830's had a hyd oil system separate from the trans. Later 830's and comfort kings shared transmission and hyd. Someone will be able to tell when they changed. I have an early 830 single stick transmission that has separate systems and a later model two stick with the shared system both are low profile. Case-o-matic on all models should have the same capacity.

Hytran is good oil for the com, but is a bit thicker and can cause more gear grinding if it's old. The com should have atf and that's what I use. Hytran is excellent for the transmission/hydraulic but any quality universal transmission fluid will work in those. If yu live where water in the oil is an issue hytran will work better.

John Saeli, as well as a few others, will be able to give you some sound advice on the use of lubrication oils for your tractor.

For the com I use Low viscosity hytran works great even in cold weather. John saeli told me to use hytran with a gallon of 80 wt gear lube

The 830 is up and running. Hyd works again after we pulled the rear section, suction screen was plugged solid with fuzz like a chewed up paper towel. Flushed out what we could actually think it was all in the screen. Put in new hytran with a little 80. New hytran in the COM. 140 pound pressure on COM. Too cold to drive it home for a few weeks, about 15 miles. Maybe when we get back from AZ. Thanks to John S for all the help and great parts service. We have great info on this site. Thanks to all. Jim
