Another day here in downtown springfield.

It started out at 33F at sunrise, here. By 8:00 we had wind driven snow, which lasted until about 3:00pm. When the snow and wind stopped, the temp dropped to 1F.
At 8:00 I went out and stoked the boiler, which heats the whole house and my shop. By noon it was 74F in the shop. Great temp to mud in the sheetrock that I am installing on the ceiling. I got the front part of the shop almost ready for paint. I have most of my bench system built. Just need a few more drawers built into the far end for misc. stuff. I have all the tools to make sheetrocking pretty easy. Panel lifter, Roll-around baker to easily reach the ceiling, and a Porter Cable dustless drywall sanding wand with vac. The equipment makes hanging drywall a one man job for me.
It takes longer to move all my stuff, in the shop, from one area to another than to install, prep, and paint portions of the ceiling.
I have plenty of firewood left and it is only a few feet from the shop in a connected woodshed, all out of the elements.
Life is good here.

The shop is looking great and the wood pile is getting more valuable everyday, wish we could keep it that warm inside without breaking the bank. Great to hear ya can do sheetrocking, now that others know you might get some unexpected phone calls. Rod.

Wood is worth a fortune I just bought propane $3.95 a gallon .More than double the price I paid in the summer, I thought i bought enough to last . Big mistake

I also did some sheet rock work yesterday in my basement stairway. One of my least favorite jobs. There is no easy maneuvering in a stairway. And I don"t have one of those dustless sanding wands you mentioned (I may go out and buy one of those). Wifey told me todays job is to clean up all the dust in the basement. I was proud of myself for cleaning the stairway so well. Did I say I don"t like this job. I"d rather clean up behind a bunch of cows any day. Oh well. At least I was working in my shirt sleeves instead of layers of coveralls and coats in the sub zero outside. Arvin

Buy your wood stoves and boilers now. EPA is targeting wood burners for emission standards. Unfortunately, I am not joking.

I built a wood stove patterned after a Rohn that I had bought earlier. it heated a 4 bedroom home which was as well insulated as most corncribs. If the EPA freaks build your own! we have plenty of talent and know how right here.

Here in NY laws were passed near 4 years ago mandating wood gasification boilers. They are great, except for the cost. They burn a third less wood and the ashes are minimal, as they also burn the smoke, thus the reduced emissions.
I would have a gasser setting in my shop, if the Royall boiler, was not in the shape it is in. The Royall is burning a face cord every 5 days to heat everything.
Before I retired we sold and installed wood gassers, so I am talking from training and practical experience in the heating industry.
