My Dad was a furnace man. Holding the flashlight meant you had to be a mind reader! I was not! I have some stories that could never be told on this forum...

When I was little I used to hold the flashlight while dad and grandpa worked on the frozen barn well pump, it was in a pit. I specialized in shining the light in someone's eyes. I nearly froze solid a couple of times. Growing up we used to load those Allis round bales for my uncles father in law he was a huge man who could not talk with out cursing, later I worked for an old polish gentleman rolling and loading sod who had a rather broad vocabulary (payed cash money). Later at the silo company our rather stressed out boss fired my partner and me every other day. We were always fired the next day because we had work to do that day. Be sides the amount of individuals that will crawl into the bottom of a silo and cut the unloader loose are few in number. There was a battle every morning as he gave out more work then two crews could do in a day.

Miangus. Now this has to win the category of best and funniest post today. What great childhood memories. Thanks for making me laugh out loud. Wingnut

When I was a kid my Dad always insisted that my brother and I "help" him on every project he was working on including holding the drop light.
Sometimes I would really hate it but I have to say, that in spite of myself, I learned a whole lot of stuff other kids had no clue about.
Stuff that has made my whole life easier. Thanks Dad!
